Biography
Studied fashion at NewcastleCollage of Art & Design 2000 as well as Birmingham City University (BCU) 2001 before graduating with a 1st Class Hons degree in PrintedTextiles (BCU) 2005, followed by further professional development courses inpattern cutting 2007 and an MA in Printed Textiles at the Royal College of Art 2010.
Teaching qualification PGCHE Nottingham Trent University 2015. Lisa joined MDX in 2017; her teaching career spans from 2007 todate within fashion / textiles further and higher education institutions. Roles such as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Programme Leader, Academic Advisor, LinkTutor and External Advisor. Lisa has been nominated for teaching awards at three separate UK universities including MDX. With both national & international experience as afashion / textiles designer, researcher & educator, based in the UK, US, India & Sri Lanka, in addition, showing her textile work in Paris and Shanghai.
UK fashion experience have included for brands such Vivienne Westwood, Hussein Chalayan, Manjit Deu, as well as Art Dress (designer ofsingle seamed garments), bespoke bridal studios, burlesque corset design andcostume design for stage / performance. Textile swatch studio experiences haveincluded Keelergordon, Mirjam Rouden and Sophie Steller.
As an educator Lisa has worked on several live projects within her Lecturing career for brands such as Next, Harlequin, Romo, fraas,Sophie Steller and Fat Face as well as other knowledge exchange projects relatedto textiles, fashion and responsible design that explore ideas around identityand sustainable design, within a broad range of socioeconomic contexts.
