Jimmy is an academic advisor and assessor, connectingstudents with trust/hospital partners to enhance their overall experience. Hebridges the gap between the university and healthcare trusts, fosteringcollaboration and ensuring students receive the support and opportunitiesnecessary for academic success and professional growth in dynamic healthcareenvironments today.


Biography

With a diverse and dynamic career background, thisprofessional brings a unique blend of healthcare expertise and a strong financefoundation. Originally from the Philippines, he transitioned from accountingroles in banking and insurance to a broad finance career in the UK, gainingexperience across industries such as hotels, retail, import-export, and dairy for over 15 years. 

Seeking a better work-life balance, he made a significant careershift into nursing. After earning a DIPHE Assistant Practitioner qualificationand a BSc in Adult Nursing with first-class honours from Middlesex University,he gained extensive experience in acute hospital settings. In September 2023,he returned to the university to impart his wealth of nursing knowledge to thenext generation of nurses.

In September 2023, Jimmy was featured on the front page ofThe True North magazine, sharing his journey from accounting to nursing. He isalso a core member of the #Thisisme program, which highlights the uniquestories of colleagues who have positively impacted others and contributedsignificantly to the trust.

During his hospital employment, Jimmy was selected as aChief Nurse Fellow (CNF) in the NHS, where he underwent a year-long trainingprogram to develop leadership skills and drive patient care improvements. He isalso a trained Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) from Worcester University,providing essential support to colleagues during and after the COVID-19pandemic. Currently, he offers restorative clinical supervision (RCS) tocolleagues and is expanding this support to other trusts, promoting well-beingand enhancing clinical practice across multiple settings.

Jimmy, an alumnus of the Florence NightingaleFoundation—Mary Seacole Leadership Programme, is dedicated to addressing healthinequalities and improving healthcare outcomes. Through this prestigiousinitiative, he advocates for change, develops leadership skills, and ensuresdiverse communities receive equitable care. Jimmy actively supports theFlorence Nightingale Foundation's mission to advance healthcare equity byapplying his knowledge in teaching, making a lasting impact on the nextgeneration of nurses. He empowers them to drive meaningful change in healthcarewhile prioritising patient safety and fostering a culture of excellence incare.
