Research activities

* Adult Social Care- previous MA and current PhD topic.  Also, part of a national bid for NIHR in progress.

* Practice Learning - book chapters and articles

* Educational Audit tool research with the Healint4All project 

* Increasing student intergenerational and cultural awareness with the GSIM project 


Current Teaching

My role focuses on the practice learning modules across the adult, child, and mental health nursing student programmes.

For undergraduates-

I regularly teach on the Advanced Communications modules across all parts and all fields.

I facilitate the preparation for practice sessions, as one of the PBLU team.

For postgraduates- 

Currently, I am working with the Clinical Skills team to produce and subsequently a bespoke Motivational Interviewing module for a Trust partner.  

I teach sessions on Practice Educator course.  Also, both the Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor initial training and annual updates.

Currently, I am a MSc Supervisor for two students, having successfully worked with previous supervisees.


Biography

Pam Hodge is a Registered Mental Health Nurse and SeniorLecturer in the Practice Based Learning Unit at Middlesex University.  Her work focusses on expanding and ensuring qualitylearning opportunities in both statutory and the private, independent andvoluntary sectors for nursing students. Pam also supports practice and academic teams in her role as anUniversity Practice Lead, including for Adult Social Care.

Pam’s work has led to researchrelated to primary care experiences for nurses, health and social care supportworkers, and practice learning, including in public health and related resourcedevelopment. 

She became a doctoral candidate in2023 and her PhD research focuses on care home service user experiences ofworking with nursing students.

Prior to her academic role, Pam was a Clinical Nurse Specialist working with people experiencing a first episode of psychosis and their support networks.
