Research activities

Aile Trumm is an experienced research assistant specializing in mental health and forensic psychology. She is currently involved in the process evaluation of a multi-site clinical trial at the University of Middlesex, focusing on Structured Psychological Support for individuals with complex emotional needs. Her responsibilities include conducting interviews with patients and staff across seven NHS Trusts, qualitative data analysis, and publishing reports and papers.

She has also contributed to the ODESSI Clinical Trial Open Dialogue project, analyzing qualitative data while adhering to Good Clinical Practice, Research Governance, and NHS guidelines.

Previously, she worked at St. Andrews Healthcare on an NIHR-funded inequalities project, contributing to quantitative and qualitative research on psychiatric patients in medium-secure forensic settings and D/deaf patients' mental health needs.

Her academic research extends to nursing and mixed methods evaluation, where she collaborated with the University of Birmingham's Institute of Clinical Sciences on mixed methods research in nursing, resulting in a publication in the Journal of Advanced Nursing.

She has presented her research at multiple conferences. She has authored several peer-reviewed publications, including studies on hypnotherapy for anxiety disorders, inequalities in secure mental health settings, and staff perceptions of patient inequalities.


Biography

Aile Trumm is a research assistant specialising in mental health, forensic psychology, and health inequalities research. She holds an MSc in Health Research Methods from The University of Birmingham, where she completed a systematic review on the effectiveness of hypnotherapy in anxiety disorders. She also earned a BSc in Psychology and Criminology from Buckinghamshire New University.

Throughout her career, Aile has worked in academic, clinical, and forensic psychiatric settings, contributing to various NIHR-funded projects, clinical trials, and mixed-methods research. Her expertise includes qualitative and quantitative research, systematic reviews, and clinical trial evaluations. She has conducted research across multiple NHS Trusts, psychiatric hospitals, and universities, with a strong focus on equality, diversity, and patient well-being.

Aile has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her research at national and international conferences. Alongside her research roles, she has worked as an academic teacher for the Brilliant Club Charity.

Her additional experience in equality and diversity includes serving as a student representative for the University of Brighton Athena Swan submission and advocating for gender equality and mental health awareness.
